p1 NEWS OF SURROUNDING COMMUNITIES - DALTON
"Pierre Beeson, wife and daughters, were Tusday evening supper guests of Mr and Mrs Fred Beeson. Pierre has been discharged from the army because of physical disablility.
Bili Stout of the Seabees is spending a furlough with his wife and baby and Mr and Mrs Elmer Lumpkin.
Mrs Lois Beeson of Parker spent the week-end with her parents, Mr and Mrs. Bert Wilkinson.
Mrs Ada Poore, Mrs R. A. Peirce, Jan Ann and Booby, were in Richmond Friday.
E. G. Giggy attended an agency meeting of Farm Bureau Insurance men in Indianapolis Friday.
Mr and Mrs Charles Howard were Sunday dinner guests of Mr and Mrs Sam Lafever and sons. Afternoon callers were Mrs J. Lilly and children, Mr and Mrs Omer Masters and children; Mr and Mrs Walter Lafever and family of Muncie; Mr and Mrs Richard Ellis and family of Mooreland and Mr and Mrs Archie Litton and family.
Charles Dennis and James Giggy spent Sunday in New Castle.
Flo???e Lafever and sons and Mrs J. C. Lumpkin called on Mr and Mrs U. M. Stewart, of Losantville, last Friday afternoon."
Note Dalton is probably in Dalton Township, Wayne County, Indiana

p1 NEWS NOTES OF INTEREST TO READERS
"Mrs Emma Holaday is visiting her son, Ralph Retz, and family in Indianapolis.
Mr and Mrs C. N. Best of New Paris, Ohio, spent Sunday with Mr and Mrs J. E. Stephens.
Mr and Mrs Eureth Cheek were Sunday guests of Mr and Mrs Chester Pierce of Muncie.
Rev and Mrs Charles Brubaker were guests in the home of Mr and Mrs Frank Morris Sunday.
Miss Dorothy Pierce and Miss Anna Louise Price of Muncie spent the week-end with Mr and Mrs Everett Price.
Harry Groves spent the week-end with friends and relatives in Indianapolis, and while there attended services at Cadle Tabernacle.
Rev. and Mrs. C. O. Johnson and family left for their new pastorate at Maxwell Thursday morning."

Sunday School Report; Robert Howell is the superintendent.
"We were glad to have our new minister, Rev. John Hunt, with us for the worship services Sunday morning.
The regular meeting of the W. S. C. S. has been postponed from June 17 until June 24, when Miss Bernetha Odell, of Mooreland will be a guest speaker. Miss Odell has served as a missionary in Africa."

p1 W. C. T. U. INSTITUTE
"An African missionary, Miss Bernetha Odell, was guest speaker at the Losantville W. C. T. U. Institute held at the home of Miss Male Lindsey. Mrs George Hale, assistant hostess and leader for the day was unable to be present on account of sickness.
The morning session opened with group singing "Work for the Night is Coming." Devotions were from 2nd Cor. 3:1-9. Mrs Arthur Lumpkin offered prayer. After a short business session and a few minutes taken for reports of directors we were dismissed for the noon hour social fellowship and carry-in lunch.
Afternoon service began by group singing "Let the Lower Light be Burning". Devotions were in charge of Mrs Longerbone, evangeilstle (evangelist) director. Mrs Nellie Fouts had charge of the White Ribbon Recruit service. Two little jewels, Juanita Thornburg and Jimmie Dean Howell, were added to our list of members.
Panel Discussion - How Can Missionary Women Help Abolish Beverage Alcohol; was led by Mrs Nila Howell. Several of the group taking part in this discussion.
Miss Odell then gave a very interesting and informative talk on the habits and customs of the people of Africa and her work there. Numbers present were 34 adults and 8 children.
Our Union was made a Light-line Union.
Dismissed by singing 1st verse of "God Be With You 'Til We Meet Again.'""

Sunday School report and a note of the Mortgage burning service at 2 p.m. the next Sunday.

p1 Obit for D. B. Holaday
"Word has been received by Losantville relatives of the death of D. B. Holaday, eldest son of the late P. L. Holdaday, who died at his home in Jackson, Michigan Tuesday.
Mr. Holaday has been in ill health for over two years. Funeral services were conducted Thursday with burial at Jackson.
Serviving are the wife, two children, 2 brothers, A. G. Holaday of Jackson, Lloyd Holaday of Cedar Grov, Ind., the step-mother, Mrs Emma Holaday, of Losantville, and many other relatives and friends.
Mrs. U. D. Todd left Wednesday to attend the funeral services on Thursday."

p1 PLEASANT GROVE
Due to the g?? and tire situation many of the Muncie people have not been able to attend Sister Lucy's services. But we have been having some wonderful services there at old Pleasant Grove.
The Ladies will be at Pleasant Grove to sing next Sunday night, June 13th. Everybody invited.
Sister Lucy has had around fifty conversions since she has been at this church.

The Greensfork Township Farm Bureau will meet Monday evening, June 14, at the School Building.
Miss Betty White of Whitewater will entertain us with music; also a good speaker will be there.
Each family is asked to bring a cake and table service.

"The post office was moved Saturday evening into the Bales building.
Mr and Mrs William Shoemaker and Mr and Mrs Oscar Severe were dinner guests of Mrs Glenna Hunt. Max and Dean Hunt were afternoon callers.
Mrs Pearl Lamb of New Castle recently spent the day with her sister Mrs J. B. Ankney and Mr. Ankney; and their brother, Clyde Gaddis.
Mrs Ruby Wigmore moved to Farmland Tuesday.
June Thomas of Richmond spent Sunday with Barbara Thomas.
Charles Macy of Peru and Mrs Robert Turner of Dayton, Ohio visited their father, F. A. Macy, last week. Mr. Macy accompanied his son and his family home for a visit.
Miss Leona Edwards is visiting her cousins, Mr and Mrs Elmer Edwards of Winchester.
Mrs Carrie Fouts of New Castle spent Friday with friends here.
Preaching services at the Methodist Church will be at 10:30 Sunday morning.
Mr and Mrs Avon Krausbauer of New Castle spent Saturday with Mrs Lillie Krausbauer and family.
The W. S. C. S. will meet Thursday night with Mrs Lois Wright.
Eugene Baker and Franklin Sayre Jr. continue to improve but are not yet able to be up.
Marine Melvin Green left Monday for San Diego, Calif. after a short visit with his parents, Mr and Mrs Gall Green. A family dinner was held at the home of his parents Sunday in his honor.
The restaurant was closed part of the week while while Mrs Cook was under the dentists care."
